Description
6 CPD POINTS/HOURS AWARDED FOR WEBINAR SERIES
Overview
Client reports of feeling concerned about too much screen time, drinking, food and body preoccupation, sex and relationship preoccupation, cannabis/drug use and overspending are common clinical concerns. These ‘addictive’ issues are typically accompanied by chronic anxiety, excessive stress and feeling overloaded by the demands of work, family and social connection. How do these issues correlate? How can we help?
This experiential workshop offers an Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach, including new concepts for understanding addictive processes and effective systemic interventions that are compassionate, empowering and address the underlying shame and trauma our clients are navigating. How addictive issues impact the therapist will also be addressed.
Learning objectives:
- Participants will learn an IFS definition of addiction.
- Participants will learn how to utilize an IFS map of addictive processes.
- Participants will learn the three categories of the internal system.
- Participants will learn common clinical polarities.
- Participants will learn effective interventions with extreme behaviors.
- Participants will learn how to safely intervene with underlying trauma.
- Participants will learn how to collaborate effectively and reduce resistance.
- Participants will learn how to guide clients to track their inner processes.
- Participants will be able to identify parts of the therapist impacted with type of system.
